TWO LITTLE SPARROWS

Two little sparrows sitting in a tree,
Said one to the other, “Do you see what I see?
These humans running to and fro,
Anxious and worried as to work they go,
Pushing and shoving to meet every need,
Forgetting the difference between necessity and greed.”

The other replied, “Don’t they know,
That the Heavenly Father who loves us so,
Is the same loving Father to whom they can go?”

“Oh, they do know,” the first one said,
But knowing happens only in the head.
If they will only let knowledge move down to the heart,
Then they’ll experience what it means to be smart,
Trusting Father God as every creature should,
And they won’t have to hustle and bustle for their food.

Remember what Jesus told them while He was here on earth?
‘Don’t worry about tomorrow, Just look at the birds?’
But humans have knowledge... they think they’re smart.
That’s why they’d rather worry, than have a change of heart.

They like to have control of their daily bread.
It doesn’t really matter what Jesus said.
So they give up resting and heart trusting,
Doesn’t matter that they lose...the true meaning of living.”

SUCCESS

Some people measure success in money
Some people measure success in fame
But the true measure of success lies
In making yourself a name.
Not ‘cause you’re rich and famous
But ‘cause you’re loving and true
Not ‘cause you walk the red carpet
But ‘cause you dare to be you.
Being you is the hardest achievement
That anyone can ever attain
‘Cause everyone wants to be someone else
Someone who has captured their brain.
We think we should be that person
We think we’ll make it if we
Can just become a clone of their image...
Whatever that image might be.
The person we so admire
Is struggling himself to be
Someone else whom he aspires
In his own dreams to be!
So quit being captured by people
Who are as normal as me and you
Start being who God has made you...
He made you to be no one but YOU!

FREIND, COME UP HIGHER...

Jesus was my Savior
When my journey just began...
My journey into discovery
Taken by every man
When I walked in darkness
In sin and misery...
Jesus came and showed the light
Forgave sin and set me free.
Then I began to read His Word...
And I was His child
He became my Father
Teacher, Counselor, Strength and Guide
His Word turned into flesh in me
As I chose to obey
It changed me ever so gently
Though sometimes I did despair
My Self...it never likes the Word
It struggles and it squirms
It tries to wangle out of Truth
It tries to dodge and spurn
‘Cause to obey is sacrifice
It’s laying down my life
It’s letting go, it’s giving in
It’s nothing short of death!
The Word and Self they battle on
Sometimes it rages strong
But as I call on Him for help
He holds, helps and leads on.
He leads me on to victory
‘Cause He has won the war
Each battle whether won or lost
The final’s His, I know!
As I obey and as He helps
I move on step by step
Closer, higher, deeper still
In our relationship
Now He’s my Savior, Master, King
Provider, Protector, Everything!
Father, Mother, Brother, Lover
But best of all He’s Friend!

MY DADDY AND I...

My heart leaps out
My soul rejoices
My Daddy delights in me!
I wake with singing
My ears are ringing
With words He says to me!
‘I love you, my girl
I always will
You bring joy to me My child!
I’ve watched you grow
I want you to know
I’ve always been by your side!
You’ve fallen down
I’ve lifted you
You’ve got right up again!
You and I, girl
We’ll make this road
Till you never fall in pain!
You’ve looked to Me
When there was no one else
You’ve begged Me thru your tears…
‘Daddy don’t leave
Just stay real close
‘N’ I’ll make it thru this fear…
I shall walk this road
That You’ve chalked for me
I know You see the end…
The road is rough
The maze is tough
But You know what’s beyond the bend.
I trust You so
And I want You to know
I’ll trust you whatever betide…
One thing I ask
Thru my journey, my task
Your Face from me don’t hide.’
My answer to you
As you journey thru
Is, ‘My girl, I am right here…
Not for one moment
Will I leave your side
My darling, never fear…
Your tears may blur
Your vision of me
But I don’t cry like you.
Tho’ my heart does weep
My vision I keep
On you…I’ll take you thru.’

THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOVE

Your love is so strong it sees me through
Your kindness keeps drawing me closer to You.
Dear Jesus I thank You for helping me see
What Your love and Your kindness is doing in me!
Whenever I’m down You lift me up...
When I feel dry you fill up my cup.
Dear Jesus I thank You for helping me see...
What Your love and Your kindness is doing in me!
What would I do without You by my side?
How would I handle life’s raging tide?
Thank You for being so close to me
That You feel what I feel ‘fore it touches me...
Your love and Your kindness, they stay with me
No matter how hateful or bad I may be
So long as my heart is yearning for You
You’ll stay by my side and You’ll see me through.
When I am weary ‘coz life gets so tough
Your gentle hands keep holding me up.
Dear Jesus I thank You for helping me see
What Your love and Your kindness is doing in me.
I know that I’ll make it to the end of the road.
‘Coz You’ve promised to carry this burden, this load
N when I get there to glory I will clearly see
That Your love and Your kindness did it all in me!

Hello 21...

Hello 21…
Wow, you’re a man!
That’s what the law of the land would say.
But what does it mean – I mean, really mean
In this world of the ‘macho man’ today?
It means being strong, by not flaunting your strength,
It means being faithful and true.
It means holding up when ev’rything’s down…
It means being strong to be you!
Life around us has this happy knack
Of ebbing and flowing like the tide.
My son, being a man means hanging in there
Your faith being your anchor, His Word being your guide.
Your anchor is deep, we’ve labored for that.
And now the time has come…
To test the high seas and trust you to Him.
I tremble to let go...but there’s no other way son.
To ride the white water, to stay right on top…
Not just to survive as you pitch and you drop.
But be a beacon of light to all those around
Who are searching for strength, where none can be found.
A beacon that calls…‘You can do it too…
He’s holding me – Look! He’s holding you…
We’re in this together, our Pole Star is one.
He’ll bring you right thru, like others He’s done.’
You may not feel His Hands when the waves are so high…
Believe me; they’re there, tho’ the waves touch the sky.
You may not feel His love in the pitch of the night…
But at the end of the tunnel His love is the light.
Ev’ry day of your life, He chalked out before
You set out on this voyage 21 years ago…
He knows, ‘coz He chartered the Master Plan…
You stay right on course…your yacht’s in His hand.
Remember, real strength is not what you see.
It’s not what the world would want you to be.
It’s not being loud, it’s not acting tough.
It’s not getting gruff when life plays rough.
It’s being at peace in the midst of the storm.
It’s lying in wait till the break of dawn.
It’s choosing to choose to look within…
To find that real strength comes only from HIM.
