TWO LITTLE SPARROWS

Two little sparrows sitting in a tree,
Said one to the other, “Do you see what I see?
These humans running to and fro,
Anxious and worried as to work they go,
Pushing and shoving to meet every need,
Forgetting the difference between necessity and greed.”

The other replied, “Don’t they know,
That the Heavenly Father who loves us so,
Is the same loving Father to whom they can go?”

“Oh, they do know,” the first one said,
But knowing happens only in the head.
If they will only let knowledge move down to the heart,
Then they’ll experience what it means to be smart,
Trusting Father God as every creature should,
And they won’t have to hustle and bustle for their food.

Remember what Jesus told them while He was here on earth?
‘Don’t worry about tomorrow, Just look at the birds?’
But humans have knowledge... they think they’re smart.
That’s why they’d rather worry, than have a change of heart.

They like to have control of their daily bread.
It doesn’t really matter what Jesus said.
So they give up resting and heart trusting,
Doesn’t matter that they lose...the true meaning of living.”
